The World of Ice and Stars- Mark Whiteway
(Lodestone Book 2)
Book 2 follows on from the cliff hanger in book 1. It’s an epic Sci-Fi/ Fantasy book in the same vein as His Dark Materials or LOTR but stands beside them on its own merits. I won’t describe the plot but check out THIS for the original review.
I can’t talk too much about the plot without spoiling things but hopefully, it suffices to say that this installment builds upon the first book and delivers something even better. Book 2 isn’t a bridging book as I often see with trilogies; it’s superb in its own right. There are subplots within the main plot that work their way to an exciting conclusion. It touches on everything from race relations, sexism, and poverty to environmental issues. This is wonderfully crafted, original and captivating. Quite simply one of the best books I’ve ever read, I loved it.
